Bricklayer Hammers

An Estwing bricklayer hammer is a special hammer for chipping and setting cement blocks and bricks.  Its design shows a flat, square face on its one side of the head.  This side will be used for hammering.  The other side of its head is formed like a long chisel, which can be used for chipping.
The typical weight of such a bricklayer hammer is between 16 to 24 ounces.  Estwing bricklayer hammers are forged in one solid piece of hardened steel and fully polished, the head and handle.  This ensures durability and long-lasting usage of the tool.  Like all the other Estwing hammers, their bricklayer hammers are equipped with a bonded and molded shock reduction grip, which is fabricated from nylon vinyl.  This patented handle concept reduces strain being put on the muscles of hands and arms during work and prevents carpal tunnel syndrome.  Alternatively Estwing bricklayer hammers can also be used by geologists, serving as a geology rock hammer.

This bricklayer hammer is also a great tool for archeologists and paleontologists as well.  With this hammer you can split and trim easily stratified rocks or dig into sediments.  Its “build-in” chisel comes in handy for splitting and removing shale layers of soil and stones while searching for fossils.  The hammer is also a great tool for carving clean exposures of sediment layers like lake beds or varied clays, thus getting them ready for being photographed or sampled.  To some extent,  the hammer head can be used as a light weight chisel.  More challenging work thus should be done by a real chisel or it might chip.  Important for the user of all rock hammers, including the bricklayer hammers, is to wear eye protection at all times, because during work chips from rocks and even hammer might get right into your eyes.  If you work in sedimentary rock areas, this kind of rock hammer is all you need to succeed in your paleontologic endeavors.

Like all Estwing hammers, this bricklayer hammer has been designed and produced to satisfy the needs of its users.  It guarantees a high standard of safety when it comes to usability and comfort.  Being made of one solid piece of metal ensures that the hammer head won’t break off the handle, possibly injuring the user.  The grip made of nylon vinyl does not only reduce vibrations during impact, it takes also care that the user will have a firm grip on the handle and will never loose contact.  The shiny polished steel appearance gives the hammer a flair of a collector’s item. Maybe if you got this one, you won’t be able to stop yourself from collecting all the other beautiful Estwing tools.
